Yep, it's time again for another Jamie Anderson newsletter! Whoo hoo!! Thanks for the reponses to the last newsletter. Great to hear from y'all. A note, though -- please don't add our address to your mailing list to recieve jokes or petitions. We get so much mail, there's little time to read that kind of stuff. I just did a really fun concert with Alix Dobkin in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Almost 400 people showed up to have a great time with us. Thanks to everyone for coming. Next time, bring cheesecake. (Now if you'd been at the concert, you'd know what I mean!) Speaking of performances, I've got one in Memphis, TN coming up: Friday, February 6, 8 pm, Barristers, 147 Jefferson, 901-527-8662 They tell me that the place is a little hard to find -- it's in an alley because years ago, it used to be a speakeasy. If you need directions, call the number above. My west coast tour starts on February 28 in Bakersfield at The Asylum, 207 Kentucky Street, 8 pm, 805-871-5432, LadyKern@aol.com. I'll head north from there with other dates in CA, OR and WA for the month of March. A complete tour schedule will go out in the next newsletter. More touring in April and May with dates in MS, IL, IN, OH, VA, MD, NY, PA, TX, CT, MO and KS. Festival bookings include the Gulf Coast Women's Music Festival in MS (April), Campfest in PA (May), Kerrville Folk Festival in TX (May) and the Alaska Women's Music Festival (July). Again, you'll get more details closer to the date. I'm still looking for Ohio bookings in late April and/or early May. Also needed desperately are bookings in VA or MD in mid May. If you belong to an organization that is looking to do a fun fundraising event, talk to them about bringing me in for a concert. Tell them I eat anything and my contract is shorter than the Louisiana Purchase. If you've ever thought about producing a concert, then consider taking the plunge with me. (Get your mind out of the gutter, dammit!) I've worked with a lot of first time producers and if you've got a few friends to help, a concert can be very successful. I sometimes even do house concerts so if you've got a big livingroom (or know someone who does), then contact me. I usually book house concerts last, though, so I can't confirm such a booking until a month or two before hand. _________________________ Did anyone catch me on the syndicated folk show "River City Folk?" I haven't even heard the performance myself. Yes, I was *there* to record it, ahem, but I couldn't get the broadcast here at home. _________________________ I'll be at the Folk Alliance conference in Memphis February 11 -- 15. If you're involved in folk music as a producer, DJ or performer, I hope to see you there. Look for my table in the exhibit hall. _________________________ I recently got a great review in Gnetwork newsletter from Silver City, NM. I think it wins the prize for brevity: "Whoa, dudes and dudesses! She was WAY good! We hope to make it an annual event." _________________________ That's the scoop for now. I'll leave you with a totally tasteless joke that someone recently sent me: Q: Why does Clinton wear underwear? A: To keep his ankles warm. Hey, I told you it was tasteless. Here's one that (hopefully) won't make you groan: Q: What's the difference between a puppy and a singer-songwriter? A: Eventually the puppy stops whining. Okay, enough whining from me -- y'all take care. Hope to see you at one of the shows! -- Jamie Anderson
