Hey Folks! It's been awhile since I've sent one of these out. My apologies. The holidays rolled around, then I worked on the new album, then I moved across the country, then I worked some more on the album .... whew. If you're getting this, it's because you signed my mailing list at a concert or asked to be added via email. If you'd like to be taken off the list, or if you'd like to correspond with me personally, you can send email to tsunamiinc@aol.com. Please don't send petitions, jokes or other forwarded mail but I love hearing from fans. Yep, I moved. I'm now a southerner. Y'all. My new home in Durham, NC, is quite cozy and folks are so friendly here. Heck, I didn't even know my neighbors in Tucson but here, half the neighborhood has stopped to welcome us to the neighborhood. Grocery stores stock several different brands of black- eyed peas and cornbread mix but good Mexican food and bellydancers, not necessarily at the same place, are difficult to find. Ah well, you can't have everything. Tsunami Records has a new address: 4201 University Dr., Suite 102, Durham, NC, 27707. The email address will remain the same. The new location will mean more trips to cities on the east coast but it doesn't mean I'll forget everyone on the othe side of the country. See my tour schedule at the end of the email to see where I'm going this year. __________________________________ Drive All Night Everything's cruising along well for the new album. It'll be out at the end of this month and in stores in March. It'll be available at all the usual places: my performances, women's bookstores, gay bookstores, and some chain stores (like Tower and Borders). You can also buy them online at Goldenrod (www.goldenrod.com), Ladyslipper (www.ladyslipper.org), Fresh Fruit (freshfruit.com/store/) and Harmony Ridge (www.hrmusic.com/). Ask your local record store to carry Drive All Night. If they already order from Goldenrod or Ladyslipper, it's easy for them. I can't wait to share this new recording with you! __________________________________ Get Jamie Anderson real cheap I'm looking for a few gigs to fill in holes on my upcoming March and April tours. Know of a great venue in your town? Belong to a group that needs a fundraiser? I've worked with a lot of first-time producers so don't sweat it if you've never done anything like a concert before. I've performed in a varieity of venues -- mostly coffeehouses and concert halls, places with a listening crowd. I prefer not to play in bars (too noisy and smoky) but if you know of one with a listening crowd and a PA, I'd love to know about it. I've even been known to play in a large living room. Ah, the possibilities .... So here's what I'm looking for: March 7 -- 9 in Washington state or northern Oregon March 16, 17, 21 -- 25 northern CA (in or near bay area) or March 22 -- 25 southen CA April 9 in in IN, IL, or WI April 12 -- 16 in WI, IN, IL April 18 in IA April 20, 21 in IA or OH To see what is already booked, see below. ___________________________________________ Free concert tickets! Well, almost free. I'm looking for folks to help promote a few of my concerts. If you think you can post flyers, hand out flyers at events and invite your friends to my performance in your town, contact me. If I'm looking for someone in your town, you might be able to earn a couple free tickets. ___________________________________________ Festival a rama dama ding dong Some of the music festivals are making their booking decisions now. If you'd like to drop a line or call any of them to request me, I would be forever appreciative. ___________________________________________ Jamie Anderson drags her butt and CDs all over the country! 2/19, Memphis, TN, University of Memphis, 8 pm, Psychology Auditorium, Psychology Building, bgala@cc.memphis.edu, khiestnd@latte.memphis.edu 2/21, Conway, AR, Hendrix College, 8 pm, Hulen Hall, Student Center, 1600 Washington Ave., monroe@mercury.hendrix.edu 3/5, Olympia, WA, Traditions Cafe, 8 pm, 300 5th Ave. SW, 360-705-2819, http://www.traditionsfairtrade.com 3/6, Seattle, WA, Victory Music, 8 pm, International Youth Hostel in Pike St. Market, 84 Union St. 3/8, Vancouver, WA, Clark College, noon (tentative) 3/10, Portland, OR, It's My Pleasure Coffeehouse, 7 pm, NE Sandy Blvd. & 64th St., 503-280-8080 3/11, Roseburg, OR, house concert, 541-679-4655 3/12, Tacoma, WA, Shakabra Java, 2618 6th Ave., tjardes@ups.edu, 253-572-4369 3/13, Eugene, OR, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 8 pm 3/14, Eureka, CA, Womyn's Web Coffeehouse, 8 pm, 1901 California, BBL1@aol.com 3/19, Monterey, CA, Media Room, Barbara_Murphy@msn.com, 408-373-7379 3/20, Oakland, CA, Mama Bear's, 8 pm, 6536 Telegraph Ave., 510-428-9684 for reservations, women only please 3/26, San Diego, CA, LINC, 7:30 pm, North County Lesbian and Gay Men's Community Center in San Marcos, adylinc@juno.com, http://www.outonthe web/linc 3/27, Ojai, CA, Lavender Living Room, 7:30, Ojai Valley Women's Club, 441 Ojai Ave., for reservations: PO Box 393, Ojai, 93024, women only please 3/29, Blacksburg, VA, Virginia Tech, 7 pm, rhyam@vt.edu 4/10, Chicago, IL, Mountain Moving Coffeehouse, 7:30 pm, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 773-883-0619, women only please 4/11, Kokomo, IN, sandlisa@netusa1.net 4/17, Des Moines, IA, WCC Coffeehouse, 8 pm, Des Moines Valley Friends Meeting House, JBelluchi@aol.com 4/19, Cedar Falls, IA, KUNI Live From Studio One, Karen.Impola@uni.edu 4/22, Bowling Green, OH, mkruege@bgnet.bgsu.edu 4/24, Cincinnati, OH, LiLACS, St. Johns Unitarian Church, 320 Resor Ave. in Clifton, opening the show: Trish Thiemann, Margal1@aol.com, 513-891-8781 May: South/TX 5/21, Dallas, TX, Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse, 8 pm, opening for TR Ritchie May, South/TX Be sure to check with the venue before the night of the show to confirm the details. ______________________________________ That's it for this newsletter! I usually end with a quote but this time, I'll paraphrase part of this. It's too good to pass up: from News of The Weird, Funny Times, February 1999 A parental pamphlet on coping with marijuana use by kids, written by a Utah criminology professor and recommended by U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, identifies as a warning sign of dope use "excessive preoccupation with social issues, race relations, environmental issues, etc." That's it! Stay well and warm everyone. -- Jamie Anderson, excessively preoccupied with social issues
