Delivered-To: mbaya@svaha.com From: TsunamiInc@aol.com Date: Thu, 4 Jan 2001 14:26:25 EST Subject: The Jamie Anderson Newsletter To: DakotaAZ@aol.com It's time for yet another edition of the absurd but entertaining Jamie Anderson newsletter! You are on this list because you signed my mailing list at a concert or wrote to me and asked to be added. If you'd like to be deleted or if your address will change soon, please let us know at tsunamiinc@aol.com. Please don't forward jokes, news items, virus warnings or petitions. I love personal notes from fans, though, and try to answer every email. Feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends, especially if I'm going to be performing in their area. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Table of Contents ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Welcome and general news 2. Gonga Sale!!! 3. Anne Feeney's new CD 4. MP3 Women's Radio 5. Florida 6. Wireless Foundation 7. Southern Womyn's Music Festival 8. Tour, tour, tour 9. Quotes of the month ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Welcome ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey everyone, hope your holidays were fab!! All you dog folks will be happy to know that I am now the mom of an adorable four month old puppy. She was rescued from a crack house by a neighbor and brought back from near death. Shelby is a Bull Terrier mix with a beautiful brindle and white coat. The cats are not amused. As I was typing that, I decided to check on her since she'd been way too quiet in the last few minutes. She was happily chewing one of my slippers. This is like having a toddler with really sharp teeth. Thanks to the folks who came out to my Cary gig in December. For the next couple of months, I'll still be staying close to home, playing in Carborro on January 13 and in Fuquay-Varina (the most carefully pronounced city in the country) in February. For more details, see the tour schedule at the end of the newsletter. Sorry, my January Greensboro gig has been canceled. I hope to get there later this year. I'll be teaching two songwriting classes and a music business workshop in the triangle cities area in February. Registration is this month. If you'd like more information, e me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. Gonga Sale!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Most of my recordings are on sale!!! CDs are just $10 and $5, and tapes are $5. See price list below. Anne Feeney's new CD ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some of you may remember Anne Feeney - she sang at the campfire one night with me at Michigan. Even if you haven't heard her before and you like good solid songs about social justice, you'll love her new release "Have You Gone To Jail For Justice?" It'll be out very soon. The title cut is being sung by Peter, Paul and Mary at their recent concerts. Contact Anne at unionmaid@earthlink.net for more information. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. MP3 Women's Radio ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There's a great MP3 radio station that features women's music, including my work. Check it out at http://stations.mp3s.com/stations/64/womens_music_plus.html. Keep in mind that artists get paid for downloads. Tell your friends!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Florida ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm still looking for Florida gigs to book around my private engagement in Ft. Meyers. I'd like to do other gigs in state March 2 or 4. If you know anyone who might be interested in bringing me in to perform, let me know! If they want more info about my work, they can e me or check out my website: www.jamieanderson.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. Wireless Foundation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you have a cell phone you're no longer using, consider donating it to the Wireless Foundation. They give phones to domestic violence victims that are preprogrammed to dial 911. Find out more at http://www.wirelessfoundation.org/12give. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything." -- Josef Stalin On that sobering note, I'll close.
