Delivered-To: mbaya@svaha.com From: TsunamiInc@aol.com Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2001 13:19:59 EST Subject: The Jamie Anderson Newsletter To: DakotaAZ@aol.com Here's another edition of the absurd but entertaining Jamie Anderson newsletter! You are on this list because you signed my mailing list at a concert or wrote to me and asked to be added. If you'd like to be deleted or if your address will change soon, please let us know at tsunamiinc@aol.com. Please be kind and keep in mind that a real, feeling person gets your email. Please don't forward jokes, news items, virus warnings or petitions. I love personal notes from fans, though, and try to answer every email. Feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends, especially if I'm going to be performing in their area. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Table of Contents ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. The ending quote ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Welcome everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's been a good month at home for me, doing one local gig, writing some tunes and preparing for a bunch of Spring and Summer touring. In addition to all the groovy west coast and midwest gigs I'll be doing, Olivia booked me for a resort in the West Indies! And the Michigan Women's Festival booked me to teach several intensive workshops! Thanks to everyone who wrote to Olivia and Michigan to encourage them to hire me. This month I have two bookings close to home (see the tour schedule below) and I'll also be teaching at Duke and the ArtsCenter. My gonga sale is now over. Thanks to all of you who ordered merchandise. As always, you can order my recordings at the regular prices from Goldenrod, Ladyslipper, at concerts, and other places. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. All Request Tour ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Starting in March, I'll be doing an all request tour. I'm always happy to do requests at shows but as some of you have found out, my memory bites. So I figure if I give you a month to request tunes, I'll have enough time to remember and rehearse them. E me and let me know what you want to hear on my Spring tours. Anything I've written or otherwise performed is fair game. I'll throw in a few new songs too. Just don't request Feelings. I might do it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. National Women's Music Festival ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This wonderful festival is greatly in debt and needs your help. Here's part of a recent mailing I received from them: In order to continue paying on our debts and to book our performers, we must raise at least $20,000 in the next 4 weeks. Here are the ways you can help ensure that the 2001 National Women's Festival and future festivals are there for you to enjoy: *Send your $100.00 deposit for the 2001 Festival. *Send your full registration now!!! Take advantage of the early bird specials. *Make a donation!! *Buy a Silver Anniversary CD! These next two months will make or break your Festival. www.wiaonline.org 317-927-9355 Women in theArts P.O. Box 1427 Indianapolis, IN 46206 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Songwriting Award ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My song "Fourteen" was recently awarded an honorable mention in the Folk category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Gay Community in The Dalles, OR? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I KNOW we're everywhere but I'm having a hard time finding the gay community in The Dalles, OR. I'm doing a house concert there in March and I'd like to let them know I'm coming. If any of you have any suggestions, please let me know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. Looking for help in Eugene, OR ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm looking for someone to help distribute flyers to advertise my Eugene show. E me if you can help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. Need a gig in Los Angeles ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have March 17 open on my upcoming California tour. Know anyone who can book me at the last minute? Just about any place with a listening crowd would be groovy. I'm open to house concerts too. Even if you've never hosted one, I can help you. It's damn easy, not to mention fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8. Looking for Jody Johnston ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Does anyone know how to reach Jody Johnston from Kenai, Alaska? She's one of the investors on "Drive All Night" but my recent check to her was returned and marked "not deliverable as addressed." Since this is the address I've used successfully before, I can only guess that she's moved. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 9. Dr. Demento ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This nationally syndicated radio show has played me in the past. Please request me and put me back in rotation: www.drdemento.com. Just hit the request link on the left of the home page - it's easy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10. Letter in Acoustic Guitar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've got a letter in the current issue (March 2001) of Acoustic Guitar. I complimented them on an article about protest music in an earlier issue but took them to task for leaving out any mention of women's music. You can pick up the magazine at any music store and some bookstores. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 11. When Cats Take Over the World Charts! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In mid January, When Cats Take Over the World was number 34 on the MP3 Comedy Chart and number 395 on the general chart. That last number may seem kinda low but considering that there are over 350,000 songs at MP3, that's pretty friggin' good. To download my songs, check out www.mp3.com/jamieanderson.com. Remember that I get paid for downloads but they cost you nothing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12.
