You are getting this because you signed my mailing list at a concert or wrote to me and asked to be added. If you'd like to be deleted or if your address will change soon, please let us know at tsunamiinc@aol.com. Be kind and keep in mind that a real, feeling person answers your email. Please don't forward jokes, news items, virus warnings or petitions. I love personal notes from fans, though, and try to answer every email. Feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends, especially if I'm going to be performing in their area. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Table of Contents ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Opening message 2. Closing quote ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Opening Message ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With only a couple of gigs in November, I've had time to catch up on paperwork, book my tours and write some tunes. I cruised through a couple of websites recently that carry my recordings. One site said I'd done a song called "Gangsta Boogie" and categorized me as electronica. Another site said I was in some Flintstone videos. Wow, I must be working in my sleep because I don't remember doing any of that stuff. I don't have any gigs in December but there's much planned for next year including a special CD release concert and celebration in Carrboro, NC, with special guests, a contest and lots of prizes. See the tour schedule below for a preview of 2002. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. LISTEN IS HERE and there are t-shirts too!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just in case you didn't hear me yelling for joy when the new albums arrived at my office, Listen is here! Heck, tell your family that's what YOU want. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Street team and CONTEST!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I need some help getting the word out about my new album Listen. I don't have Warner Brother's ad budget or I'd be advertising in Rolling Stone. Heck, I can't even afford Girlfriends Magazine - one 1/6 of a page black and white ad costs about $380 plus design costs. Or I could get a full page color ad for only $1900 for one insertion. That's most of my ad budget! Not to pick on that magazine, I can only imagine what it costs to put out something like that, but the bottom line is, I ain't got it. So here's where you come in. Email information about my music to a few friends, post on a website or two, plus request me for some big events and you'll get a free Jamie Anderson CD of your choice (provided it's still in print). It's easy to do - you'll get complete instructions including contact information - and it won't take much time out of your day. This is a contest too - the person who does the most work also gets a free brand-spanking-new Listen t-shirt! Contest deadline is January 31. For more information, write to us at tsunamiinc@aol.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Vote for me at Outvoice pretty please ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Outvoice has a great website and listserv for anyone interested in lgbt music. They have a top 40 chart too. Vote for Listen! www.outvoice.com (Please note that you can't vote for more than one album by the same artist.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Updated website! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My website has undergone a major overhaul. You'll find a new home page, new bio, a new Classes page, a bazillion more links on the link page and lots of new photos in the photo gallery, including pictures taken in the studio while we were recording Listen. www.jamieanderson.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. More songs at MP3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There's a new song on my MP3 page. It features me singing "Menstrual Tango" with an ensemble from the Indianapolis Women's Chorus. Recorded live, it captures a fun concert and is a one-of-a-kind recording not available on any CD. Also, you can hear "(I Wanna) Drive" and "I Miss the Dog" from the new album at www.mp3.com/jamieanderson. Please let other folks know about these songs because I get paid if there's a lot of downloads but it's free to you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. Another way to help Ground Zero victims and survivors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Check out this cool site and find out how you can help the folks who are still working tirelessly to help survivors and victims of the September 11th tragedies: http://wtcgroundzerorelief.org ~~~~~~~~~~~ 8. Festivals ~~~~~~~~~~~ Now is when many festivals start to think about who they want to book for next year. It would really help if you requested me. Michigan Women's Music Festival, PO Box 7430, Berkeley, CA, 94707, 510-652-5441 National Women's Music Festival, PO Box 1427, Indianapolis, IN, 46206-1427, 317-927-9355 Any other festivals (folk or women's) that you think could feature me, let 'em know too. Be respectful, please, and keep the phone call or letter short. Thanks!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 9. The National Women's Music Festival needs you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I recently received a letter from Women in the Arts, the organization that puts on the National Women's Music Festival. It said that after September 11, their donations dropped off to one tenth of normal. If things keep up this way it could mean the end of the festival. While it's very important for you to contribute to the organizations helping folks affected by the tragedies, it's also vital that we keep women's festivals alive. Women in the Arts is a non-profit organization so your donations are tax deductible. Donations (memberships) make great holiday gifts (single is $35, family is $55). Send a check, made payable to Women In the Arts, to PO Box 1427, Indianapolis, IN 46206-1427. For credit card donations call 317-927-9355 with your name, phone number, address, amount to be charged, card number (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express only), and expiration date. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10. Radio Stonewall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Radio Stonewall features the music of lgbt folks including moi. There are 11 stations with over 500 artists represented. Check 'em out: www.mp3.com/stations/stonewall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 11. Acoustic Guitar article ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another article I wrote for Acoustic Guitar is in the latest issue (January). This one is about the National Women's Music Festival. If you don't subscribe, you can pick it up at almost any music store and some bookstores. More info at www.acousticguitar.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12.
